Weight drop

Patch is still going well.....eating and drinking like shes eating and drinking for 5....lol

but we still had a weight drop....she weighed in at 1298gms today

I'm not overly concerned....its possible she just ate more when i last weighed her.....it was afterall just after the weekend and i left them bucket loads of food as i was away for the weekend.

Today the three of us, myself, Dougal and Patchie all had a cuddle together. While we were sitting there i was feeling lots of strong kicks on the left flank....and absolutely nothing on the right side....this is most unusual as i normally feel kicking on both sides. We sat there for a good 20 to 30 minutes before i felt the first kick on the right.

Ill have to keep a close eye on my girl.....soon i will have to seperate Patch and Dougal...i know they wont like that as they are Sooooooo in love....lol....so ill try to leave them together as long as i can.

Smile

Still got a little bit of time before then.

Anyway....stay tuned

  1. Hi Debs,
Hey !! ... I used to Breed Guinea Pigs too: I love them. I started with 3 (2 males and 1 female), and had at least 11 or 12 at one stage. Over the time that I kept them, I had at least 16 or 17 in total. ALPHA & BETA were my 2 originals (I actually purchased them as Pair to Start Breeding - Alpha was the Male: Unfortuneately ...LOL... Beta, who was suppose to be Female, turned out to be a Male also); which lead me to Purchasing My Third one (I made sure it was a Female), who I Named BETA-F (F for Female) ..... I didn't have the heart to change the name of the First Beta .... because they were 'The First Two', as in ALPHA & BETA in the Greek Alphabet (No I'm not Greek). I later purchased another Female who I named CHRISTA.

I Made up Names from the Letters of the Alphabet. The names of those that I Bred, which I can Remember, were (In Order Of Birth - that is at least Litters - I named each of the litter from each name for that litter by the colour or characteristics of each one): CASPER (M), DELTA (F), DEXTER (M), FESTER (M), HESTER (F), LESTER (M), JESTER (M), JASPER (M) ... A Viscous Little Blighter He Was ...LOL..., (Sometime during this time I purchased An Adult Male and named him CELTA - He was A Bit of a Rogue, but I calmed him down and he became my Best Male Breeder), VESNA (F), ZELDA (F). Over time, I lost them one by one (mostly from a Disease that was going around at that time). Besides ALPHA & BETA and BETA-F, my Favourites were CELTA and CHRISTA.

I'll tell you more about them another time Debs. It's about 3:30am here now, and I should get some sleep.

    Bye For Now

  2. LOL...kinda similar story here.

I started with Vanillie....He is my old man now. Ive had him for 7 yrs and he was already grown up when i got him so im not 100% sure how old he is.

Then 2 years ago i got trixie, friskie and dixie...my first three girls....they came free with a cage i wanted....and that was the start of my joyful life with guineas. All three girls were mated with Vanillie...he was 5 plus at the time...trixie was around 2 yrs old and she has never gotten pregnant...she now lives with Vanillie and i call them my nanna and grandpa.
Friskie has had 3 lots of babies...
The first ones were Ginger and Meggs and they are still with me.
The second lot were socks and scamp ( still with me),Patch ( who this blog is for) and smokie who went to a good home)
her last lot are now 2 1/2 months old...this is her last lot of babies and she has been allowed to keep two of her girls who will now live with mum. The Babies are called Teddy and Tammy. She also had daisy and Rosie who went to an excellent home where they could be together.

Dixie had 1 miscarriage and full term one baby called Curry who now lives with sock and scamp who are two of friskies babies.

Ginger had one pregnancy and had 4 babies called Tipsy, topsy, Mopsy and cotton...Tipsy now lives with her mum...the other 3 went to good homes.

Curry has had one lot of babies that were sold before she even got pregnant.

Tipsy, socks and scamp have never had babies and are now past the 1 yr mark...so wont be mated as its too dangerous.

So as of today...Trixie lives with Vanillie
Dixie lives with meggs, Friskie lives with Teddy and Tammy, Ginger lives with Tipsy, scamp, socks and curry live together and Patch and dougal live together.

I have yet to experience losing one....im sure Vanillie is on borrowed time...but hes still very spoilt, healthy and much loved....so who knows how long he will live....smile
