Well there you go....i knew she was close....and its way to hot and uncomfortable to keep them inside....lol
Patch gave Birth this evening at 6.37pm.
I went up to give her her evening meal and i looked in the cage to see her pulling out baby number 2....baby one was just lying there in its sack....so while mum gave birth to number 2 i quickly removed the sack from baby ones face and got it breathing. Seconds after baby 2 was born baby 3 came out. Patch was able to rip the sack before turning her attention to baby 3. It was all over and done with with in a minute or two.....much faster than usual.
Thank God i was there or we would definately have lost the first baby.
I stuck around for about 1/2 hr to make sure all were ok and there were no more babies.
They are now being cleaned and fed, and are getting to know each other....smile
Patch is a young girl but she coped really well and has had a big feed and drink post birth.
Tomorrow we will do a proper inspection and weigh them....for now im just leaving them alone to bond.
Stay tuned for more info.... ( photos Going up shortly)

Hey Debs,
ReplyDeleteCongratulations :-) They are So cute. I know what you mean about having to remove the Sack: That happened to me once too. Except I wasn't there at the time she was Birthing, but luckily the Orphan (so to speak ... lol ) was still alive, but it seemed like it was Touch & Go until I had completely removed the sack. The mother had virtually abandoned it. however, everything turned out okay.
have you named them yet ? ... if they are 3 females, why not call them JESSICA, HANNAH and ELLA . . . After You Know who and her Sister and ELLA's Pink Lady.
NM
Its great Idea....smile
ReplyDeleteIll see how it pans out...eg are they girls....do they look like an Ella, jess and hannah
